   July 27, 2009 -- FUJITSU TEN LIMITED, manufacturer of leading automotive electronics, announces that its "hybrid (HV) system control ECU(*)" is mounted in the third generation "Prius" launched by Toyota Motor Corporation (hereinafter referred to as TOYOTA) on May 18, 2009.

   FUJITSU TEN's "HV system control ECU" is a device that contributes to fuel efficiency of the vehicle where it is mounted by optimizing outputs of the engine and motor of the vehicle according to load on the vehicle and driving conditions and by controlling a function that stores driving energy as electricity when the vehicle slows down.

   Recently car manufacturers have launched hybrids to meet environmental regulations. Accordingly, the market of HV system control ECUs is expanding.

FUJITSU TEN's HV ECUs have already been mounted in TOYOTA's Lexus GS Hybrid, Lexus LS Hybrid, and Crown Hybrid.

This ECU was selected for the third generation "Prius" sold in North America, Mexico, and Korea due to its lighter weight and smaller size as well as FUJITSU TEN's proven track record of ECUs. This ECU was jointly-developed with DENSO CORPORATION. (The ECU developed by DENSO CORPORATION is mounted in the "Prius" sold in Japan and Europe.)

1. Lighter weight by changing its case material from die-casting aluminum to resin
* 20% lighter compared to the ECU for Lexus LS (weight ratio)

2. Smaller size by developing a new high performance custom IC
* 8% smaller compared to the ECU for Lexus LS (volume ratio)
