Linking Service Evolution

The inclusion of a communication unit enables constant communication between the AVN and data center, so that anyone can easily start using a navigation unit with the most recent maps and facilities data immediately after purchasing it.
Not only is the car navigation unit automatically updated monthly by the data center with up-to-date road maps for the entire country, you can perform navigation using the most recent data, such as by carrying out real-time searches using the periodically updated facilities information.
Additionally, these new units include the application, first made available for 2013 models, that allows users to perform searches using voice interaction through connection with the data center by utilizing a specialized smartphone application (CarafL: Car-centric life Assistive Friend Link (free-of-charge)) that not only allows you to perform voice-interaction searches for your destination, but also allows for audible operation of the navigation and audio units.

Product Concepts

FUJITSU TEN ECLIPSE products utilize the advanced information communication technology (ICT^*2) of the FUJITSU Group to enhance the various "linking functions", and to provide products that are easy to use and safe for all AVN users. These new products incorporate new functions based on the concept of the linking service that provides a new mobility lifestyle by linking together data of "people", "vehicles", and "Society".
What we have achieved is an improved freshness of "map" and "search" information that forms the basis for providing driving guidance and is the essence of a car navigation unit. The new line-up includes models with a communication unit that enables constant communication between the AVN and data center so that all persons who purchase a unit can easily start to perform navigation using the most recent map and facilities data immediately after purchase. Since receiving various comments from users of our products, such as "I had to take circuitous route because the new road was not in the system", "Update procedures are troublesome", and "Update costs are high", we have been especially careful to set the objective of improving these issues that are fundamental to car navigation.

In addition to enabling of constant communication between the AVN and data center to provide navigation using the most recent data, this model can also be operated by voice through use of the updated version of the "CarafL" application that provides voice-interaction searching.

Features of Functions Provided by Communication Unit New!

All roads in the entire country are automatically updated once a month. (First-time ever released in the market^*1)

The most recent maps in the data center are compared with the maps currently in the AVN unit, and new road data (differences) is automatically downloaded. The downloaded data is automatically written into the map SD after the key is turned from the ACC to the OFF position to complete the update process, after which the specific contents of the update are provided via a displayed message. There are no troublesome procedures required on the part of the customer so that worry-free navigation can be enjoyed using maps updated monthly.
The data subject to updating consists of all of the information for roads in Japan (from expressways, and national and prefectural roads to minor streets) that is recorded in the data of the unit.
* The AVN can be used normally even when downloading data.

Display of predicted search terms and use of "AND" searches allows you to search for destinations from the most recent data by using freely selected words.

By being able to search in a database that is updated once or more every two months, users can specify destinations of even the most recently added facilities.
A list of predicted search terms is displayed when a few characters are entered similar to an Internet search and the use of "AND" searches using multiple keywords provide search capabilities using freely selected words.
Examples
Predicted search terms : If you enter "To...", "Tokyo Station" and similar terms will be displayed.
AND search : Search for "Kobe" and "Art museum".

As you get closer to your destination, nearby parking lots, including updated space availability status, are automatically displayed.

A search is automatically performed when you reach within two kilometers of your destination. The results are displayed by using color-coded icons to show the space availability status of nearby parking lots. You can open the detailed information window to check parking costs and actual amounts of available spaces.

Support is provided by remote AVN operation from the call center.

Operators can rapidly resolve problems by use of remote operation. Resolve problems that normally require a long inquiry and reply process with only a simple phone call.
Note : Operations that can be performed remotely are partially limited. Support is limited to normal FUJITSU TEN business hours. Prior user registration (free-of-charge) is required.

You can back up data, such as memory points, in the data center.

You can back up information accumulated in the AVN, such as memory points and destination history, in the data center. The data can be returned to the navigation unit after replacing the car battery or purchasing a new unit.

Note: Data can only be transferred to models equipped with an ECLIPSE Future Link™ function. Prior user registration (free-of-charge) is required.

There are no communication or map update charges from the date of purchase until the end of October 2017.

Note : The services can be used in continuation after November 2017 by renewing your contract every two years (on a chargeable basis).

These commands can be given using naturally spoken language without the use of fixed phrases, and allows the user to concentrate on driving without distraction.
• You can specify a scheduled setting of a destination in the AVN from outside of your car.

• Receive guidance information that gives priority to your preferred gas station, convenience store or other location.
  You can receive priority guidance information by previously setting user information.
